Observatoire interdisciplinaire des plans d'eau du Québec
Quebec aquatic systems are crucial to the economy and tourism sector, while also being vital sources of drinking water for all Quebecers. In close collaboration with our partners, we are working to develop and implement platforms for the continuous monitoring of water quality.
Our main objectives are:
- To continuously sample and analyze the water quality of waterways, including during winter periods and floods;
- To test prototypes for detecting contaminants, including emerging contaminants;
- To raise awareness and provide resources to the various stakeholders in the watershed, including residents and citizens of the municipalities concerned, the different levels of government, and the industrial sector;
- To allow students to contribute to the project by incorporating activities into their academic curriculum;
- To train highly qualified personnel to provide industries and other organizations with a new generation of experts in the field.
